Cleveland International Film Festival

Every spring, the Cleveland Film Society presents the Cleveland International Film Festival. The event features over 240 films from close to 60 countries.

In addition to international films, there are special film sections, such as American independent, documentary, Eastern European, family, gay and lesbian, and Pan-African films that add diversity to the program. Awards given include the Audience Choice Award for Best Film, Best Animated Short Film, Best Ohio Short Film and Best International Short Film, among others.

Filmmakers come to the festival to participate in FilmForums, which are discussions that give audiences a chance to talk about the films that are screened.

Another great feature of the Cleveland festival is FilmSlam, the student film festival for high school students, held on weekday mornings during the main festival. FilmSlam gives students the opportunity to both view films and meet with filmmakers.

Find the latest news on the Cleveland International Film Festival at The Plain Dealer's Cleveland.com. As always, the Internet Movie Database has basic information about the festival, with a list of recent winners.
